At the Gilroy Garlic Festival find garlic ice cream, kangaroo mean and gator tail. The annual event brings in more than 100,000 garlic lovers from all over California. A stinky bulb that was looked down upon during the first quarter of the twentieth century has now taken the spotlight. 30 years in the making, California grown garlic takes center stage in a showdown between distinguished chefs from Northern California. The prize, a whole lot of bragging rights coupled with $5,000 and 1000 pounds of fresh garlic. We’ll meet the chefs, learn some new tricks for the stinking rose and find out what you can do with a half-ton of garlic.
