Episode 903 - Heritage of the Heartland: Five Dot Beef
For seven generations, the Swickard’s family business included grain, livestock and some fruit trees, but mainly focused on raising horses during their time in the 1850’s Santa Clara Valley.
It was 15 year old, third generation, Jack Swickard who developed the family name and its business in a new arena; all natural purebred beef.
Jack’s passion for cattle drove him to a national reputation at a very young age, and made the Five Dot brand synonymous with high quality beef.
California Heartland’s John Alston visits the ranch near Susanville in Northern California to meet Jack’s wife Midge and son Todd Swickard, who tell us the story of how a young kid made a big name for himself through cattle ranching.
