A new way of buying and selling all breeds of horses is underway in California. At the recent horse expo in Sacramento, organizers introduced an all-breed horse auction. This auction was different from other horse auctions because it marketed all sorts of horses, it was not breed-specific.

Some people turned out simply to watch, others came with their checkbooks in hand, ready to buy.

Horse sellers were interested to see how the event unfolded and were satisfied with the process. Producers stressed that this was not a clearance house for horses: the goal was to match up people who wanted to buy a high-quality, happy horse with people who had one to sell.

Organizers hope this event paves the way for more horse auctions of this kind in the future.
