Delta Water
Few people in California know where or what it is, or understand its importance. It is the hub of the state's water delivery system. It is agriculturally rich and environmentally sensitive. It is the California Bay Delta. And, it is broken. This week we begin a three part series on this delicate region of our state and how farmers are helping to save it.

Ag Safety & Children
Studies show that farming is one of the most dangerous occupations in the United States. Those dangers multiply for the children on our farms. Pat McConahay takes a look at what we can do to make the farm a safer place for our children to live and work.

Prunes
Could it be that wrinkles have given prunes a bad reputation? Prunes may look a little strange but they are one of the most nutritious of heartland fruits. They offer cooks a lot of room to be creative. We think it's time we gave the common prune a chance to shine.

Wine Tech
The California wine industry harvested a record crop last year and that in itself is reason to celebrate. But, there is even more positive news in the world of winemaking these days. Allison Thompson has a report.

State Dirt
You probably don't give much thought to the ground beneath your feet, but some heartland students are hoping to change all that. They are raising awareness of California's fertile soil, the unsung hero of our bountiful agricultural industry.

Farm Stay II
It seems Heartland viewers love interesting getaways. We received a lot of response to Pat McConahay's first story on farm bed and breakfast locations. With that in mind she hit the road again and found another farm stay, this one in Humboldt County.

Eucalyptus
As we discovered last year in a report on eucalyptus tree farms, processors are discovering more and more uses for this sturdy wood. Recently we met a woman who saw the beauty in eucalyptus and harvests it for ornamental purposes.
